2013 Graduate Photography Competition

The Office of Graduate Studies is excited to announce that the 2013 Graduate Photography Competition is now open.  Registered students are invited to submit a maximum of 5 photo's that represent this year's theme:

‘Advisor-Student Interactions:Through the Lens of a Graduate Student’.

The winner photographer will be awarded $2000 for first place, $500 for second and $250 for third place, all being credited against the current semester's tuition.  Learn more about competition details...

PhD Candidate Wins Armand-Frappier Award in Microbiology

Salim Islam, a PhD candidate in the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology, will receive the 2013 Armand-Frappier Outstanding Student Award. The award recognizes the top Canadian graduate student in microbiology and will be presented at the Canadian Society of Microbiologists/Société Canadienne des Microbiologistes (CSM/SCM) conference in Ottawa this summer. Trudeau Scholar

Thesis No. 1,000 Published Online

When she submitted her PhD thesis to graduate studies May 16, Sarathi Weraduwage didn’t know that this major milestone in her life would also be a milestone for the University of Guelph. Her thesis was the 1,000th paper published electronically through the Atrium, U of G’s open access digital repository for scholarly work. Read more...

Trudeau Scholar

A University of Guelph PhD candidate has received a Trudeau Scholarship, the most prestigious doctoral award in Canada. Geography student Chiara Camponeschi won the $60,000 scholarship from the Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation to study urban governance and environment. She is one of 14 Trudeau scholars named this year. Read more...

On Monday May 13, 2013 the Atrium will be unavailable for a 2 hour period, from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., for scheduled maintenance.   If you plan to submit a thesis please do so at a later time in the day.
